DAVENTRY

Daventry is a small town in the very heart of England - situated at almost equal
distances from Rugby (North), Banbury (South), Coventry (West and Northampton (East).
A very typical small English town I believe - with all the "usual ingredients": a
few schools, two highstreets, a clock tower (in this case without a clock), a couple
of churches, a few large companies, a lot of small companies and loads of commuters
although the railroad was closed down years ago. Generally very ordinary and very
boring - or if you look at it through my eyes: very beautiful and very cosy.
The large companies in Daventry when I was there were Argos, Cummins (which I believe
has moved away from Daventry now), Ford and Mila.

MILA

Mila is a distribution company, specializing in window and door components,
founded in 1979 in Kvistgaard, Denmark by Michael Davidsen and Lars Borup-Nielsen.
Very ambitious they sure were - and successful too! Soon so successful that they
decided to set up shop in the UK. They rented a small warehouse in Daventry -
one of a compound of six small warehouses.

Little by little the company grew to become one of the market leaders and one
by one they took over the other five compound warehouses as they became available.
Within only a few years they outgrew all six warehouses and the present facilities
at Brunel Close were built. That was in 1987, and since then there have been ups
and downs for Mila, but they are still going strong at Brunel Close.
Hopefully they will be for many years to come.
